Useful Tips

•Visit Visas:

To obtain information on visit visas to Dubai and the UAE, a good place to start is the website of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM). You can also see the instructions related to getting a visit visa for a family member. Book a flight online with Emirates or book a hotel in Dubai, using the DTCM unified portal.

•Dubai Hotels & Guides:

Book or browse for information online for Dubai hotels, hotel apartments and restaurants. If you are not completely familiar with Dubai roads, see the interactive map of Dubai. The website of Dubai International Airport features a city guide, which contains useful information including permits and visas.
 
•Taxis:

Taxis are the most common way of getting around. Metered cabs from Dubai Transport Corporation, recognised by their cream colour, are efficient and have well-trained and courteous drivers. Dubai Transport taxis also operate a service from the airport. For fares please visit the Roads & Transport Authority website.

Additionally, most hotels offer transport for their guests. There are also a number of radio taxi companies that have cars on call and whose numbers are available at all hotels.
 
•Car Rental:

Cars are available from car rental companies for visitors who have an international driving licence. Customers must produce their passport along with the valid licence.

•Metro:

Dubai Metro trains currently run at 10-minute intervals, between stations located across the city. Upon completion in 2012, it will be the world’s longest driverless metro system.
 
•Water Taxis:

An interesting way to travel between Bur Dubai and Deira is by water taxi across the Dubai Creek. In 2007, the RTA launched fully air conditioned water buses to enhance Dubai's water transport.

The Dubai Air Show is a biennial event that has been attracting visitors for the past 23 years. It began as the Arab Air Show back in 1986 and comprised a small civil aviation trade show at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Over two decades later, the show is a huge draw for all those involved and interested in the aerospace sector. The event focuses on connecting buyers to sellers from all over the globe.
